Most of us work monday to friday and dream about Friday night. Getting off work and heading straight out to the cottage or lake. Well for some, time spent in the great outdoors isn't as relaxing. Hears one man's story on this week's blog
If you think you've got a hard job think again. After spending two years in the bush planting trees I realized that no job is harder than walking through a swamp and over mountains just to get to that good plot of a land so you can plant a tree in 40 degree weather and call yourself a hero. No, no job is harder than that. Sure it may sounds easy I mean the trees are only about a foot long. But try carrying 1000 of them on your back let alone in the hot sun wearing steel toe boots and a hard hat. Every time you go out in the land is chance you'll get lost or eaten by a bear or worse a broken tree will crush you and no one will no your gone until closing time.
Try hiking over 3km back and forth from the cache just to grab more trees and warm water. Just when you think you got something to look forward to lunch comes around and your bologna sandwich is warmer than the inside of you tights. By the end of your long hour shift your so physically drained that you want just stop in footsteps and fall down. Yes tree planting is one of the hardest jobs. And to know that I guess you just gotta go out and try it.
